The shop name, “Faye’s Henhouse Quilts” was inspired from Faye Grandalen’s customers. Faye and her “hens”, otherwise known as the ladies that spend Tuesday’s at the shop quilting, helped name the shop. These ladies and many other customers are in awe as they walk in the doors of this two level store to see the vast displays of over 5,000 bolts of fabrics. Shopping at the Henhouse has been referred to as “pure inspiration” by one of Faye’s customers and as “instant therapy for people who quilt” by another. There are over 100 quilting samples featuring her favorite fabrics lining the balcony and tall ceilings of the shop. Also on the display for customer’s to enjoy is Faye’s collection of antique sewing machines, along with antique knitting bowl and spinning wheel. Incorporated into the Henhouse displays are antique washtubs and chicken nests that came from her husband’s farm. Faye also enjoys providing her customers with inspiration and has designed her own patterns that are offered to customers with a purchase of a kit.

The Henhouse offers classes all year around to quilters of all ages. A new addition to her class roster is “Kid’s Quilting”, offered in the summer and after school. One young quilter claims that she was “Born to Quilt”! Aren’t we all? Faye also holds a retreat at a Bible Camp each February where up to 45 quilters can gather to quilt, fellowship, and have all your meals prepared for the quilters so they can focus on relaxing and quilting!
